Dazzy Vance Celo Cardboard Advertising Display

Dazzy Vance Celo Cardboard Advertising Display

Celery-based soft drinks have never exactly been recipes for commercial success... and that was certainly the case with Celo, an obscure Western Florida-based soft drink that originated in 1904 but exploded nationally around 1930 before fizzling out just as quickly. On this colorful, rare, celery-green sign, Brooklyn Hall of Fame pitcher Dazzy Vance is shown guzzling a bottle of the product with "STRIKEOUT KING" written below his name at the base. This is the only sign of its kind that we have ever seen. It was sold as part of the Barry Halper auction and is in very nice condition with some soiling and creasing near the edges with one small piece of the corner missing at the bottom left. It measures 23" x 36" with an easel back.
