Dedication of Seals Stadium with Ty Cobb (1931)

Dedication of Seals Stadium with Ty Cobb (1931)

Masterful image of Ty Cobb at the first game at Seals Stadium. Cobb is flanked by Seals manager, Nick Williams, who is being congratulated by Portland manager Spencer Abbott. In the center is mascot Little Billy Putnam. This is an original SF Examiner photograph, hence the sumptuous quality and huge size (13x8''). One of the nicer pieces in the collection. Back is date stamped from the day after (April 8, 1931) and the original newspaper article is affixed. EX-MT. 8x10''.
