Joe Di Maggio PCL Collection

Joe Di Maggio PCL Collection

Sweet collection of eleven photographs (8x10’s) centered on New York Yankee outfielder Joe DiMaggio when he was a San Francisco Seal of the Pacific Coast League in minor league baseball from 1932-35. Dates on verso point to 1949, and likely a Joe DiMaggio Day at Yankee Stadium. Introduced to the Seals by his outfielder brother, Vince DiMaggio, Joe is shown here playing other sports - basketball and football - which Yankee management would later deem too dangerous for their beloved investment. Included are a few Seal’s baseball pics, and single images with Joe’s mother, and his father. All to most have original paper captions, vintage pencil markings, as well as wire photo and Examiner stamps.
