Derek Jeter Game Used Bat From His Very First Professional Order (PSA 8.5)
This exquisite offering is a Derek Jeter game used and signed bat from his very first professional order in 1994. The exceptionally rare and historic bat was ordered on March 2 of '94 and is the first recorded order on his Professional Bat Ordering Records on file at Louisville Slugger. Jeter spent the year in the Yankees minor league system, but this bat must have been used by Jeter while he was on the Yanks spring training roster, as it was not practice for minor league teams to have the franchise name printed on a bat. This one has "NEW YORK YANKEES" on the barrel, indicating that it was made for Jeter while he enjoyed a cup of coffee with the big club that spring, and making this the earliest bat that he used with the Yankees, as well as the first to have his name on it. At the time, it would have been hard to imagine the impact Jeter would have on the team, but he has come to define the modern iteration of the Yankees - one of the most storied sports franchises ever - winning five World Series with the club and holding career Yankee records in many important categories. This Louisville Slugger model P72 bat shows outstanding use, with a repaired crack and heavy pine tar on the handle, and many ball marks, stitch impressions, and cleat marks visible on the barrel. To sweeten the deal, the bat has a vintage ('94) Jeter autograph in 8/10 blue Sharpie on the barrel, which comes with its own PSA letter. "DEREK JETER" can be found in block letters on the barrel with "NEW YORK YANKEES" below. The bat measures 33.5", weighs 31.3 oz., and comes with a PSA LOA. This is quite simply an extraordinary piece of sports memorabilia from one of the game's most iconic figures.
