Don Larsen Perfect Game Used Baseball with LOA from Larsen
One of three authentic baseballs from this most heralded of games. This is from the collection of a family friend of the Yankees whose father entertained the Bronx Bombers for years. He was given this ball by Larsen on October 8, 1956, the day of the best-pitched game in baseball history. It is the only baseball we have seen vintage-signed the day of the game by Don Larsen, Yogi Berra and umpire Babe Pinelli (NRMT). All are on their own panels and in the same blue pen. The story of Pinelli is legendary. The last game of his career behind the plate, he wept in the locker room afterward as not a soul congratulated him. Remember, he called out Dale Mitchell on a close called third strike to help establish immortality. Giles ONL baseball shows perfect use (National League balls were sometimes used in A.L. parks in the World Series). Ball has been signed recently by Larsen on the open panel "Baseball Used In My World Series Perfect Game, Game 5 1956 World Series Don Larsen." Recent Larsen letter of authenticity states that baseball was used in the game and goes into pinpoint detail about the provenance.
