Early 1900s Baseball Andirons - The Finest Known Pair

Early 1900s Baseball Andirons - The Finest Known Pair

From the turn of the century, this finest known set of cast-iron figural andirons has almost all of the paint intact, depicting a baseball pitcher and batter. Incised "RBS/09" on the back, each measures 19" high. These are desirable prizes in the antique world and lesser sets have long been sought after by folk art collectors selling for $15-to-20K. Includes the connector pieces that the players stand on (2), made of cast iron and measuring 18" long. The uniforms are white, one player has a ball in his hand and the other a bat. Items of this type are never found in such stellar condition.
