Early 1900s Harvard Pitcher & Mugs by F. Earl Christy

Early 1900s Harvard Pitcher & Mugs by F. Earl Christy

A pitcher on a pitcher - what could be more appropriate? Christie collectors should take note of this rare set of Harvard University pitcher and mugs, which are notably the toughest to find of the Ivy League set. The hand-painted pieces are stamped AVON on the bottom and are circa 1905. The pitcher - which stands about 11" tall - depicts a period baseball player in his pitching motion, while the mugs brandish the university‚s seal. The artwork originates from famed illustrator Earl Christy. There are some surface cracks on the pitcher but it presents very well.
