Early 1900s Spalding Baseball Uniform
While we are not certain as to the team for which this was issued, this is a beautiful example of an early Spalding uniform dating from the 1900s. Top is a pullover with four buttons extending well down the front, Spalding box tag in collar, and faded felt logo patch on left breast that looks like it may have been blue and includes the letters C, C, and I, though again, we are unsure as to what order or what they stand for. Back is blank. Actual white undergarment shorts has a button front and drawstring back as the waist is not elastic; "L.H. Boxxers (sic)" is written in black fountain ink inside the waistband. Uniform pants have Spalding box tag in waistband, and is button-fly, with some shredding noticed to the back pocket. These pieces are cream colored and display nice wear throughout. Heavy weight wool socks are black with thick red stripe. Superb look for an early uniform collection, or one focused on vintage equipment.
