Early 1900s Spalding Crescent Palm Baseball Glove

Early 1900s Spalding Crescent Palm Baseball Glove

Amazing artifact dating back over a century in this circa 1900s Spalding "Crescent Palm" baseball glove. Though early-era gloves were considerably smaller than today's models, this was likely meant for kids as it measures just 7" from base to tip of middle finger and about 7" across. Extensive use and rare style merge as there is very little webbing between the thumb and index finger, and a crescent-shaped strip of padding running from the tip of the thumb, across the base of the palm, and up to the bottom of the pinky obviously was intended to assist in catching the elusive ball with virtually no webbing or pocket to speak of. All intact, has button and Spalding tag on wrist strap.
