Early 1920s Navy Football Photograph Album with Some Signed (100+ Photos)
Type I photos of Navy vs. Army, University of Hawaii, Varsity and more. Some photos taken by Tai Sing Loo in Honolulu. Many of the photos are action oriented catches, passes, plays etc and close ups. Some are labeled, including touchdowns and opponents. Also includes player photos, with four (4) being signed: Phillip Payne, Denny Donahue, Joe Karlo, Johnny Eddy. Also, a few photos of the Navy submarine baseball team in back. Originally owned by former player Joseph Bradford. Album shows wear with some scraping and some nicks along the edges. Because of age, some of the photos are loose or partially loose from photo mounts. Many of the photos show football action, and players with a Hawaiian background or Naval scenes in the Hawaii locale. Nice visual portrait of the Naval presence in Hawaii in the years before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The photos are of varying sizes, Many are 3x5", 4x6", or 4.5x6.5". Includes some wonderful shots of players in 1920s uniforms, with leather helmets and no face guards. A few of the photos exhibit minor creasing, but overall these nearly 100 year-old are in good condition.
