Early 1970s Walt Frazier New York Knicks Game Worn Jersey (Sources from Former Knicks Employee)
Exceptional early 1970s Walt Frazier game worn New York Knicks jersey. Like the man himself, this piece combines style and substance, as it shows nice use but presents clean and bright, with Cosby size 46 and wash tag in neck, partially stitched into the lettering of the name on back. New York is stitched across the chest in individual lettering, number 10 on front and back, all in orange-on-blue tackle twill while name on back is all blue. There is a minor stain on the left shoulder and a light pencil-written number 46 near the left armpit, possibly because the size was partially obstructed in the collar tag. Selected with the 5th overall pick in the 1967 draft by the Knicks, Frazier developed into a major force on the teams that brought New York championships in 1970 and '73, and his fashion sense off the court earned him the nickname "Clyde," of Bonnie and Clyde fame; he is easily identifiable by that single moniker to this day. Jersey sources from the consignor's relative, who was a Knicks employee during the 1970s, and handled the equipment after the seasons were over. According to said relative, the players had to turn their uniforms in after the season in order to pick up their salary and playoff checks, and since nobody collected sports memorabilia at the time, they would give the jerseys away to people in the office, various schools and other organizations. Since this jersey was acquired post-season, it is quite possible that Walt wore this jersey during one of the Knicks playoff runs in the early 1970s. However, without a definitive photo-match, it is impossible to prove.
