Early 1980s Doug Flutie Boston College Game Worn Jersey

Early 1980s Doug Flutie Boston College Game Worn Jersey

Doug Flutie was an outstanding high school quarterback in both Florida and Massachusetts, but his 5'9" height caused colleges to shy away from him, and the only Division 1-A college to recruit him was Boston College. Flutie justified Boston College's faith in him as played for the Boston College Eagles and he had a marvelous college career, winning the Heisman Trophy in 1984. He then went on to a 21-year professional career in United States Football League, the National Football League, and the Canadian Football League. Displayed is an early 1980s Doug Flutie game worn jersey. At Boston College, Flutie played in 47 games over four seasons, completing 677 of 1,270 passes for 10,579 yards, 67 touchdowns and 54 interceptions. In addition, in his college career he had 288 rushing attempts for 738 yards and seven touchdowns. The highlight of Flutie's college career was when, on the day after Thanksgiving in 1984 with a vast national television audience, he engineered a comeback for the ages. With BC trailing 45-41 against the visiting Miami Hurricanes, Flutie started a Boston College drive from the Eagles own 22-yard line with only 28 seconds to go in the game. Flutie completed two passes to move the ball to the Miami 48-yard line with merely 6 seconds remaining. Flutie then threw a pass into the end zone to wide receiver Gerard Phelan for the game winning touchdown as time expired. Flutie played for the New Jersey Generals in the USFL, and the Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, and San Diego Chargers in the NFL and for a number of teams in the Canadian Football League. He was selected for the College Football Hall of Fame and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. The all-original Boston College maroon, mesh jersey has white, maroon, and gold sleeve stripes. All the lettering and numbering is screened onto the jersey. A "22" in white is on each sleeve. The lower left sleeve has a "Champions" manufacturer's logo. A "22" is on the front of the jersey. On the lower, front outside tail is a "Champion" manufacturers tag that shows the jersey to be 100% nylon, an "M" for medium size, and washing instructions. The top of the back shows "FLUTIE" in white letters. Under the name is "22" in white numerals. The jersey is in excellent condition, and it shows light use. Flutie's number 22 has since been retired by Boston College. Flutie won three championships in the Canadian Football League, was a 3-time Grey Cup (Championship Game) MVP and was 6-times the CFL's Most Outstanding Player. He also had periods of success in the NFL, but he is most remembered for his astounding "Hail Mary" pass in Boston College's 1984 comeback over Miami. This game worn Flutie jersey is a sure-fire conversation starter and will help to bring back memories from Flutie's greatest moment.
