Early Black Americana Tin Toy Collection (4)
1) 1907 Alabama Coon Jigger Windup. Dancing "Coon" stands on base and dances to his (or your) hearts content. Has look of a Lehman, dated on the bottom “DRGM” 1907. Working and VG. About 10” tall. 2) 1930s Mammy Windup. Wonderful little Mammy is 8” tall and works perfectly. Wind her up and she moves in circular motion. Appears to be U.S. issue. VG-EX. 3) 1930s African litho tin pull toy is the face of an African with Josephine Baker influence. Pull her cord and she rolls her eyes. Working, EX. 3”. 4) 1920s Dancing Black Whistler. Blow into the tube and the animated tin dancer moves while the whistle toots and the wheel whirs. All tin, working and EX. About 4” long. 5) Happy Jack Tin Windup. Fabulous litho tin piece shows a stereotyped minstrel dancer that dances for you on command when the key is turned. Pres-War German by “KV.” About 6” tall. Working and EX. Same style as the Mickey Mouse Balloon Man toy.
