Early Monopole Champagne Tin Advertising Sign by Henry Stull

Early Monopole Champagne Tin Advertising Sign by Henry Stull

Framed with gilt border, this tin sign shows Dry Monopole winning the first Brooklyn Handicap in 1887 over Hall of Fame jockeys "Snapper" Garrison and Anthony Hamilton (who finished 2nd and 3rd ). Spectacular full-color lithography on tin with two holes on top of frame designed for hanging. The sign is extremely rare, being only one of two we have seen (the other sold for $1,573 in 2014). One spot of color loss in the bottom right does not affect the racing scene. Overall, 22.25x28.25”, in EX+ to NM condition.
