Early Views of Philadelphia Photographs (38)

Early Views of Philadelphia Photographs (38)

(38) Superb, vintage images of Philadelphia dating from the 1920's to the 1960's. Many artistically framed news service and wire photos of Philly landmarks including: a steam locomotive crossing the Falls Bridge; (3) impressive views of the League Island Navy Yard; (2) perspectives of the Delaware River Bridge. Interesting news images as well such as: the 1941 closing of the German consulate, with its eagle and swastika sign; a 1936 sit down strike of 50 girls blocking the passage of a locomotive to the Delaware Jute Mills. A handful of gorgeous aerial photos of Philadelphia pre-1955 are also in this mix. A few of these photos with editing marks may be graded as VG, but the lot is overwhelmingly EX and better. Sizes range from 6.5 x 8.5" to 8x10", most with caption sheets affixed to versos and a small number with front captions.
