Ebbets Field Baseball Gate Ornament
This incredible offering is an iron cast baseball gate ornament from the legendary Ebbets Field. The topping measures 5.25" wide, 2" high, and weighs just over 3 lbs. Its consignor was friends with the owner of Rocco Brothers, a demolition company responsible for the removal of stands and some fences in the stadium. Ebbets Field was erected in 1913 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and lasted until 1957 when, after the Brooklyn Dodgers migrated west, it was torn down and converted into apartment buildings. Influences of the iconic stadium can still be seen in a modern baseball park, Citi Field, which features a rotunda modeled after Ebbets Field's picturesque facade. There are two holes on the outside of the ornament where screws would be inserted. There is also some minor paint chipping, but it is otherwise in fine condition. This is just one of two that we have ever seen.
