On April 15, 1967, Eddie Mathews (then with the Astros) smashed his first home run of the year. It was a 3 run job off of Mel Queen of the Reds, in the seventh inning. That was home run number 494 in the illustrious HOF career of Eddie Mathews. The bat that smoked the ball that day is here and it's sweet looking. The number "11" in black marker on the knob over the engraved "K44". Eddie signed it in green marker below "April 15, 1967 - Hit Homerun # 494 With This Bat Off Mel Queen - 1st Home Run as Astro Last Home Run at Crosley Field Astros 8 Reds 2...Eddie Mathews". The bat is 35-3/4" in length and in Excellent condition. Detailed LOA regarding provenance provided.
