Emilio Palmero 1914 New York Giants Letter

Emilio Palmero 1914 New York Giants Letter

Historic letter signed by Emilio Palmero, a Cuban pitcher who because of his light skin passed for white and was one of the first non-Caucasians in the majors. Being signed by John McGraw's Giants in 1914 was such big news in Cuba that Palmero wrote to the Mayor of his hometown Guanabaco on May 5, 1914 to inform them. Typed letter ends, "With heartfelt greetings upon my success" and has a 10/10 signature in fountain pen. Letter is VG with browning on top and a few perforations in left upper corner.
