Ernie Davis Signed Football
Anyone to have ever had the honor to meet Ernie walked away a better person. A humble superstar at Syracuse he broke Jim Brown’s rushing and scoring records on his way to becoming the #1 pick in the NFL Draft. Shortly after being traded to the Cleveland Browns he fell ill and would later be diagnosed with leukemia. At the tender age of twenty-three before ever taking the field as a professional, he re-entered the hospital, only to die in his sleep two days later. This two-toned Wilson football was awarded to Davis after he received college’s most prestigious prize. Football is signed by Ernie in blue ink (faded) and stamped “Syracuse University, 1961, All American Heisman Trophy Winner”. The "E" is partially traced over. The leather is lightly scratched, soft and supple. EX.
