With four consecutive World Series victories, the New York Yankees of the late 1930's were arguably one of the greatest baseball dynasties in the history of the game. Presented is a true testament to the greatness of the era. The offered Official American League baseball (William Harridge, President) features twenty-six (26) spectacular fountain pen signatures. Lou Gehrig has penned his name on the sweet spot of the ball, while teammates Tony Lazzeri, Joe DiMaggio, Red Rolfe, Bill Dickey (sec.), Joe McCarthy, Frank Crosetti, Earle Combs, Joe Glenn, Frank Makosky, Myril Hoag, Jake Powell, Lefty Gomez, Red Ruffing, Johnny Murphy, Joe Glenn, Don Heffner, Jack Saltzgaver, Tom Henrich, Ivy Andrews, John Schulte, Bump Hadley, Joe Vance, Monte Pearson, Pat Malone, & Art Jorgens have all scripted their names beautifully along the side panels. The bold, clealy legible signatures average an 8-9 out of 10 in strength, while the Near Mint (NM) ball shows only slight hints of wear, and retains all league and manufacturer's marks. This is the nicest 1937 New York Yankees ball that we have seen, and is a worthy addition to any fine New York Yankees or team signed ball collection.
