Exceptional Early Yale vs. Harvard Football Painting (Leyendecker influence)

Exceptional Early Yale vs. Harvard Football Painting (Leyendecker influence)

They've been playing each other since 1875 and the Ivy League rivals have developed quite a historic series over the decades. This illustration, created at the turn of the century, measures 24x31.5" in its frame and features the signature: CF Timberlake in the lower-left corner. The very well-executed work is an oil on canvas and perfectly captures the eternal struggle between the historic New England powers. The uniforms are vintage to the era. There has been some minor professional restoration and a few chips in the frame but it displays beautifully. Obvious influence by master illustrator J.C. Leyendecker and quality rivals his.
