Exceptional "The Baseball Player" Bronze by Douglas Tilden
Magnificent in detail and form, this is a Limited Edition bronze statue of "The Baseball Player," cast from Douglas Tilden's 1889 model by Fine Arts in Metal Inc, in San Jose, California. It stands a majestic 21" tall, weighs 24 pounds, and has "Douglas Tilden" on the base. These originally cost $9,500 to create, and the intention was to make 89, but there are actually under a dozen in existence. Cast on October 25, 1993, the date of copyright is November 4, 1988. The back of the base has "c 1988 Donald Schmitz," date "10-25-93", Limited Edition number "10/89" and foundry name "FAIM." It comes with LOAs from the Art Founders Guild of America with exact specifications and photos. The life-size bronze has stood in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco since 1891, this specimen is extremely rare and was obtained directly from the family of Donald Schmitz, an extraordinarily unusual opportunity to see such an item on the market.
