Fabulous 1912 Indianapolis 500 Pennant
Unbelievable pennant from the second ever Indianapolis 500 held on May 30, 1912. The purse of the race, bumped to a whopping $50,000 for the 1912 edition, quickly lent it credibility, and it was also in 1912 that the field was capped at 33 drivers, which is the same number allowed to compete today. The second event was won by Joe Dawson in a National. The pennant reads "Indianapolis Motor Speedway 2nd 500 Mile Race May 30 1912." There has been some restoration to the felt, which has a blue interior and a white border lined with crimson stars. There is also a paper image of a flag and drivers. Measures 28" long and 13" wide.
