Famous Satirist George Bernard Shaw Photographs (52)

Famous Satirist George Bernard Shaw Photographs (52)

Nobel prize winner, vegetarian, socialist, playwright, critic; just a few adjectives that describe the brilliant George Bernard Shaw. The man who revolutionized British theater as a place for moral and ethical questioning is the subject of this stunning collection of (52) wire photos dated from 1929 to 1950. Notable images include: (2) oversize portraits of GBS; Shaw and his wife at a Grand Canyon overlook where he is reported to have uttered one of his famous Shavian observations, "most awe-full sight I ever viewed"; (2) photographs with Joe Kennedy; several nearly-poetic scenes of Shaw just going about his daily routine. Many of the photos have their original caption sheets attached to the verso. The condition of the lot ranges from VG to MT, with many beautiful NM/MT images. Sized from 5.5x7.5" to 8x12".
