First Game Used Baseball from Riverfront Stadium
Offered is the ball thrown for the first pitch on opening day of Riverfront Stadium, June 30, 1970. Baseball’s first Astroturf ballpark became new home to the Big Red Machine on that day. The ONL (Feeney) baseball shows great game use with stadium dirt engrained into the laces, its leather surface also “rubbed up” evenly with dirt. Perfectly painted on a panel in red is “June 30, 1970 - first pitch from the 1st game at Riverfront Stadium.” The home plate umpire promptly gave this baseball to the umpire’s room attendant following the game, where it was inscribed as such. Comes with LOA from the person given the ball following the game.
