First Issue of MAD as a Magazine

First Issue of MAD as a Magazine

Though it's still going strong today, Mad Magazine served as a voice for the counterculture back in the 1950s, poking fun at social morays while also satirizing film and the early days of TV. This edition - #24 - is the first issue as it graduated from a comic book to a magazine... a transition it had to make in order to avoid the Comics Code and survive. This strong, fine copy is a beauty and a historic publication, to be sure.
