"First Round Knockout" Louis vs. Schmeling Signed Limited Edition Print by Joseph Golinkin
Perhaps the most famous fight during the first half of the 20th century was the rematch in 1938 between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling, who defeated Louis in 1936, but two years later Louis returned the favor in the very first round. Noted artist Joseph Golinkin has captured the action in this limited edition lithograph (# 42/50) depicting Schmeling down, Louis standing in the corner, and the towel being thrown into the ring by Schmeling's seconds. Signed in pencil by the artist. Slightly wavy, otherwise fine with no creasing. 21" x 23.5." Rarely seen.
