Football and Hockey Card Backs Original Art (3)
Included in this lot are original artworks for the backs of one Hockey card (1976 #26 St. Laurent) and two Football cards (1961 #5 Mutscheller and 1979 #350 K. Houston). The backs of Topps cards were some of the last remaining places where their creative geniuses could have some artistic license due to the card fronts going almost exclusively to photographic images. The artworks included showcase a nice sample of the artists' work. If you don't recognize the artwork for the 1961 Mutscheller it's because the part of the back where this artwork appeared was plain white and needed to be rubbed (with a coin) to expose this great cartoon style artwork.
