Francis Ouimet with Walker Cup and U.S. Open Trophies (2 photos)
The father of amateur golf is shown here in these two front captioned images. The first shows Ouimet with 1963 U.S. Open winner Julius Boros on the site of his famous 1913 win (8x10”). The second is an oversized 12x8” and as non playing captain of the Walker Cup team accepts the 1947 trophy from St. Andrews captain Roger Wethered. The San Francisco Examiner was the first paper acquired by William Randolph Hearst and itself was the subject of the film classic Citizen Kane. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.</p>
