Frank Sinatra’s Personal 500 Club Directors Chair

Frank Sinatra’s Personal 500 Club Directors Chair

Frank Sinatra was a close personal friend of Skinny D’Amato, mob-connected owner of the famed 500 Club in Atlantic City. In 1964, the Club was having financial problems, and Sinatra helped his friend out of a jam by entertaining there as he did five times before, for free, and often with the “Rat Pack”. D’Amato purchased a number of director’s chairs for Sinatra and the other entertainers, personalizing them with names painted on the backrest. Sadly, the club burned down in 1973. Skinny died in 1984 with Sinatra as one of his pallbearers. A business associate and Lieutenant in the mob took the chair. In 1982, he gave the chair to a relative, Tom J., in exchange for work performed in his restaurant in South Philadelphia. The mob Lieutenant was found dead in the trunk of his car at a Philadelphia airport in 2003. The current owner purchased the chair from Tom J. in 2005, and this unique item is now offered to fans of “Ol’ Blue Eyes”. The director’s chair is constructed of black wood and leather, with “Frank Sinatra” painted nicely in orange script on the backrest - orange was Sinatra’s favorite color. The chair shows moderate wear where Frank surely rubbed against it, more then a few times.
