General & Mrs. Tom Thumb Autographed Carte-de-Visite
Most likely sold and signed at one of his P.T. Barnum vaudeville performances. Charles Sherwood Stratton, otherwise known as General Tom Thumb thanks to his discovery by entertainment pioneer Barnum, became the most famous midget in the world, and this autographed photograph of him with his wife Lavinia is signed by both on the back in period ink. The 1863 wedding was the most celebrated marriage of its time, and was performed in front of two-thousand guests. CdV's signed by the pair are an uncommon delight. Recently discovered and fresh to the market.
