The man who commanded the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia in the American Civil War - General Robert E. Lee - is resplendent in this handsome framed image, which is actually a photo of a drawing rather than a real-life photograph. The carte de visite measures 2.5" x 4" and 9" x 11" in its frame. It is signed by Lee in fountain pen rating 6/7 out of 10, The type at the bottom Is "Gen. R E Lee CSA." The photo has some slightly clipped corners but otherwise it is in EX-MT condition. Comes with a full LOA PSA/DNA and JSA. The general was the son of Revolutionary War officer Henry "Light Horse Harry" Lee III and originally served as a senior military adviser to President Jefferson Davis during the Civil War. He soon emerged as a shrewd tactician and battlefield commander, winning numerous battles against far superior Union armies. He remains one of the most revered, iconic figures of the American military.
