George Washington Slept Here Quarter Plate Daguerreotype

George Washington Slept Here Quarter Plate Daguerreotype

Important one of a kind photograph of the Jenks Tavern in Spencer, MA originally from the family of William C. Watson. While touring New England, George Washington spent the night at Jenks. Since Jenks Tavern burned down in 1868, this is very valuable, rare outside image of the place that was known as the place where Washington slept. The image depicts magnificent early New England scene featuring horses and hardened men. The original case is rough, but the image is near perfection. Overall, the lot measures 5" x 4". Vintage handwritten paper details provenance.
