Gerald Ford Signed Photograph (PSA)

Gerald Ford Signed Photograph (PSA)

Displayed is a signed and inscribed color photograph of Gerald R. Ford, the 38th President of the United States. Ford graduated from the University of Michigan, and he was a center, linebacker and long snapper of the Michigan football team, a squad that was an undefeated National Champion in 1932 and '33. During Ford's senior season, he threatened to quit the football team because Michigan had caved in to pressure from Georgia Tech and agreed not to play an African American, Willis Ward, in an away game against the southern school. Willis Ward, Ford's road game roommate, urged Ford to play and the star center finally agreed to suit up. Ford received offers from several pro football teams to play in the NFL, but he declined to pursue pro football. Ford later graduated from Yale Law School and was a Naval Officer, rising to the rank of lieutenant commander and serving in combat during World War II in the South Pacific. Ford later became the leader of Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was appointed to Vice President by President Nixon upon the resignation of Spiro Agnew, and when Nixon resigned in 1974, Ford became president - the first person to ever have been a U.S. President after never having won either an election for Vice president or President. Ford lost in a bid to extend his term of office in the presidential elections of 1976. The 7.8x10" photo depicts a smiling Ford. His inscription, written with a marker in blue ink, reads, "To Mike Andersen, with very best regards, Gerald R. Ford." The signed photo has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO."
