Group of Van Mungo Brooklyn Dodgers Ephemera (10)

Interesting Van Lingle Mungo ephemera for a pitcher famous for a song entitled simply "Van Lingo Mungo," by Dave Frishberg. Van Mungo was a pretty good pitcher for the Brooklyn Robins, and then with Brooklyn when their name became Dodgers again. Mungo had a lifetime record of 120-115 with bad teams. When Frishberg wrote a song composed entirely of baseball player names from the 1940s, the song became a popular baseball standard, and Van Lingle Mungo's mellifluous name led the way. Brooklyn Baseball Club wooden tags (2). Each has "van Mungo" on back, stamed, one handwritten (3.5" in length). Wood Backed die cuts (3) with stands (2). Each die cut between 8-10". One has paper loss in facial area in player next to Van Mungo. Five photos of Van Lingle Mungo. Each 8x10". Also, a baseball that in part reads, V.L. Mungo roommate. Much of the writing on the ball is faded or illegible. Part of the baseball's cover is missing.
