High Grade 1935 Chicago Cubs & Detroit Tigers World Series Press Pins

High Grade 1935 Chicago Cubs & Detroit Tigers World Series Press Pins

Pair of scarce press pins feature both combatants in the 1935 World Series, the Chicago Cubs and the Detroit Tigers. Both of these are rare as they were only issued to media, however the Cubs pin is extremely difficult to find. Fronts and enamel are near perfect - some of the very best we have seen. Tigers pin is circular, measuring roughly 0.75" in diameter, with "Detroit Press," the year, and a growling tiger on a black background. Detroit edition has a threaded post and original clasp with a little bit of tarnish that could be cleaned up if desired; makers mark and "1/20 10K Gold Filled" also on back. The Cubs' one is - fittingly - in the shape of a blue cub, standing about 1.5" tall. The bear is holding a red banner reading "Chicago Press 1935." It has a pin on the back as a clasp, back has a little discoloration (again, which can be cleaned if desired) along with S.D. Chilos & Co. marking. Each pin was used for three home games as the Tigers held off Chicago in a 6-game World Series, 4-2.
