High Grade Annie Oakley American Exhibition Cabinet Photograph

High Grade Annie Oakley American Exhibition Cabinet Photograph

The finest non sports cabinet photograph we have ever seen. First generation original from this American icon's short tenure in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show at the 1887 American Exhibiton "World's Fair" in London, England. There, Oakley famously quarreled with brash upstart 15-year old Lillian Smith. Annie abruptly left the show in a huff at the end of its London run and returned to America. This is one of the most finest images ever taken of her. With her thrilling Wild West costume, head cocked in deft assuredness, and a chest covered in her coveted shooting medals. And yes, her trusty rifle perched to go. Imprinted cartouche of the photographer who took THIS very photograph: "H&R Stiles, 23 Kensington High Street W" London, England. Condition is spectacular. A few tiny dirt spots only visible by tipping the image and sweet gorgeous gloss. Mount is NRMT and virtually unimprovable. Recently unearthed in England, where else? What a find!
