Historical 1875 Harvard vs. Yale Football Program

Historical 1875 Harvard vs. Yale Football Program

Behold the origin of "The Game"! They don't come any rarer and more beautiful than this newly-discovered, exceptional, unscored copy of the first-ever clash between ancient Ivy League rivals Harvard and Yale. The date was November 13, 1875 as the two prestigious universities battled at Hamilton Park in New Haven. Since then, the two schools have played virtually every year in one of the nation's most intense rivalries. The program's condition is EX-MT and could easily be the finest copy known. Full disclosure, there is a very very minor stain on the right-hand side of the front cover, but it hardly detracts from the simple, elegant 4x5.5" scorecard. It may only consist of four pages, but make no mistake, this is one of the most significant programs one could ever possess as very few copies are known to exist in private hands. This was just the second game ever played between two universities (Princeton had defeated Rutgers, 6-4 six years earlier). Harvard won this seminal game, 4–0. Heading into this year's meeting, Yale held a 65-57-8 advantage all-time.
