Hoard of 1987 Detroit Tigers Phantom World Series Press Pins and Charms (186)

Hoard of 1987 Detroit Tigers Phantom World Series Press Pins and Charms (186)

The 1987 Detroit Tigers were heavily favored to win the American League pennant, having rallied past the Toronto Blue Jays late in the season to "steal" the Eastern Division crown. And the steamrolling Bengals found themselves with baseball's best record of 98-64 heading into the ALCS against the lightly regarded Minnesota Twins, who emerged from an extremely weak West Division with a pedestrian 85-77 record. But in five quick games, the upstart Twins eliminated Detroit and stunned St. Louis for their first-ever World Series championship at the ear-splitting MetroDome. These rare phantom press pins were manufactured in anticipation of the Tigers making the World Series, which, of course, never materialized. There are18 charms and 168 pins, all NRMT and in their original boxes.
