Home Run Baker by Charles Conlon Used for 1940 Play Ball Card (PSA Type I)

Home Run Baker by Charles Conlon Used for 1940 Play Ball Card (PSA Type I)

Beautiful circa 1910s photo of Frank "Home Run" Baker taken by Charles Conlon. The Hall of Fame shortstop is seen from the waist up in this 6.75x4.75" image, apparently looking at the action, resplendent in pillbox hat, as the apprehensive crowd does behind him. Crease to top right corner and some other minor blemishes do not impact Baker's stern visage, verso has pencil notations and stamps from noted photo service Brown Brothers. Though his home run records are actually unimpressive as he played in the "Dead Ball" era, Baker helped the Athletics capture three World Series titles in four seasons from 1910-13. PSA Type I encapsulated.

Note: This image was used for Baker's 1940 Play Ball trading card. The card pictured online does not come with the lot.
