Home Run Baker Hits Home Run Real-Photo Postcard

Home Run Baker Hits Home Run Real-Photo Postcard

This is the only specimen known to exist as it was recently discovered in a long-time Toledo, Ohio collection. It depicts Baker hitting his namesake at Swayne Field during an exhibition game in Toledo on June 23, 1914. A Daily Blade newspaper log of the game accompanying the card recaptures the intensity, noting that Baker was 4-4 with a walk that afternoon, with the homer coming in his initial at-bat. The condition is a solid EX+. J. Franklin "Home Run" Baker was a Hall of Fame third baseman and three-time World Series champion with the Philadelphia A's before wrapping up his career with the Yankees in 1922.
