Horrors of War 1938 Christmas Box Set Many In Original Cellophane(240)
Imagine looking under the Christmas tree in 1938 and seeing a bright red box with war scenes that read "Collectors Set 240 Horrors of Wars Cards" sprawled across the center on top of brightly-colored war scenes. Now imagine opening the cello wrapped packets inside only to stop halfway through and never finish. That's what we have here: a Horrors of War 1-240 box set (no display box) with more than half the cards still sealed in their original cellophane bands. Bright, vivid colors jump off the paper with the graphic scenes that brought war up close and personal to young children. This combination made this the fastest-selling and most popular set of its time. The opened cards are fresh and bright with sharp corners. There are many premium examples that would be hard to upgrade, and the grade averages NRMT. The biggest detraction is centering, plus a few that have toned unevenly. There are 12 cello banded packs which are complete and intact, each containing 10 cards. Two cello packs are complete but the cello is detached on one side. One cello pack has 1 card removed and one is only a partial. They are all in original condition and are not to be tampered with during viewing under any circumstances. A virgin set waiting for a very particular collector.
