Huge 1901 Pittsburgh Pirates Mounted Team Photo

Huge 1901 Pittsburgh Pirates Mounted Team Photo

Framed by a Turkish column in this turn-of-the-century treasure, Honus Wagner stands out as the star of the Pittsburgh Pirates' National League-winning team. But the entire presentation belongs in the Hall of Fame. Sepia-toned 20-by-24 NRMT mounted portrait is crater-mounted in its original 26-by-20 wood frame, striking the eye with so many details: the elegant terrace setting with tile floor, the players' proud expressions and their starched white uniforms. Love of baseball history has preserved this near-flawless antique for seasons to come. The inscription says it all: "Pittsburgh Base Ball Club, Pennant Winners, National League, 1901." Other Hall of Famers include Fred Clarke, Jack Chesbro, Rube Waddell, Deacon Philippe, Jack O'Connor, Ginger Beaumont, Tom Leach, Lefty Davis and others. The World Series didn't start for another two years, so this was as good as it got for these Pirates. And this is about as good as it gets in baseball memorabilia.
