Huge 1913 Cincinnati Reds Panoramic Team Photograph w/Joe Tinker & Three Finger Brown

Huge 1913 Cincinnati Reds Panoramic Team Photograph w/Joe Tinker & Three Finger Brown

Original panoramic photograph capturing twenty-seven members of the 1913 Cincinnati Reds, including Hall of Famers Joe Tinker and Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown, as well as Eddie Grant, who was one of the first Major League players to be killed in combat during World War I.

The early 1900s were the "golden age" of panoramic photography and the offered piece is a superb example of the genre. Notable both for its enormous size, measuring an impressive 56x8.5" (visible dimensions), and exceptional clarity, the photo pictures the players posing together at Redland Field prior to a game, with each player identified in white lettering next to his respective image. The players represented here, from left to right, are Alameida, Johnson, Brown, Grant, Blackburn, McDonald, Harter, McManus, Severeid, Marsans, Suggs, Bescher, Works, Hoblitzell, Tinker (player/manager), McIntyre, Benton, Dahlgren, Fromme, Becker, Packard, Clark, Egan, Chapman, Kyle, Bates, and Smith.

The photographer's credit, "Photo by the Barnum Studio, 638 Race St., Cinci.," appears in white lettering near the upper right corner. Although no year is listed (it may be covered by the matting), 1913 was the only season in which Joe Tinker was a member of the Cincinnati Reds. The photo displays a few light wrinkles (noticeable upon close inspection), and there is a tiny ink mark in the area of Hoblizell's waist, otherwise the photo is Excellent to Mint in its overall appearance (it has not been examined out of frame). Matted and framed to total dimensions of 63x15.5". Please note: the size and/or weight of this lot will necessitate an increased shipping charge.
