Sir Winston Churchill is celebrated in over 180 photographs, spanning his storied life from the WWII era to the end of his life in 1965, including his addressing the United States Congress, his knighthood by Queen Elizabeth, a visit to New York, and shaking the hand of a very young Prince Charles, as well as meetings with Presidents Eisenhower and Truman, French President Charles De Gaulle, Aristotle Onassis, NY governor Thomas Dewey, British Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery, and other heads of state and cultural contemporaries. Images measure average 8x10, all are front captioned, and details on verso include affixed original newspaper clippings and paper captions, news service and date stamps, and production notes. The San Francisco Examiner was the first paper acquired by William Randolph Hearst and itself was the subject of the film classic Citizen Kane. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.</p>
