The Adolph Hitler Collection (209)

The Adolph Hitler Collection (209)

A Note from Our Chairman Josh Evans:
We understand the great sensitivity in the selling of this lot which many of our client’s possess very strong feelings about. After thinking long and hard, I decided that this lot has legitimate historical importance, that as a Jew we should remember what hell Hitler wrought, the importance of preserving history whether good or evil, and our own free speech of presenting things or ideas that were at the center of what Hitler and others sought to destroy.

Historically important collection of images of one of the most horrid mass murderers in our world’s history. Dating from the early 1930’s to his death by suicide in 1945, all of the images here show Adolph Hitler. Many are with Nazi cohorts such as Himmler, Goerring, Goebels, and Hess. There are dozens of images with Mussolini, and perhaps most interestingly his life and death mate Eva Braun. These striking images are in the period style of German expressionistic cinema (Von Sternberg) and photography (Riefenstahl). A few of the key images: many of his hateful, but stirring, speeches, funeral of Von Hindenburg, amazing WWI army photo (printed 1945), the new Volkswagen Beetle he helped design, many chilling portraits, “Peace for All Time” deal with Neville Chamberlain, arriving at the Eiffel Tower, approaching Warsaw with chilling signage, Hess has parachuted into Scotland, and many, many more. The most famous image of all, the little “jig” he danced after dictating Armistice terms to France in 1940 (printed 1944). Most are wire service photos with captions and appropriate stampings. Overall EX+ and 7x9”.
