Humphrey Bogart Vintage Signature and Photograph Display (PSA)

Humphrey Bogart Vintage Signature and Photograph Display (PSA)

Humphrey Bogart was a bigger-than-life movie actor who in 1999 was named by the American Film Institute as the greatest male star of Classic American Cinema. Whether "Bogie" was playing a villain or a hero or something in-between, his films enthralled movie audiences then, and now. Offered is the chance to own this wonderful Bogie tribute display, with his vintage signature and an original photo from Bogart's 1955 film The Desperate Hours. Bogart had already reached superstardom with films such as Casablanca, Key Largo, The Big Sleep, The African Queen, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, etc., when he starred in The Desperate Hours, released in 1955, one of his last movies. Bogart was brilliant as an escaped convict leading a trio of other escapees as they menace a suburban Indiana family as the criminals hide in the innocent family's home, waiting for funds to arrive to further their escape. In analyzing the work of Bogart and director William Wyler in creating Glenn Griffin, the criminal villain portrayed by Bogart, film critic Bosley Crowther wrote in the Oct. 6, 1955, New York Times, "In his evil sneer, his feral movements, his grinding voice and his claw-like hands is imaged the menace and malevolence of the meanest kind of human beast at bay." The display is framed and matted together, and the entire display measures 13 x 21". The black and white original photo would be considered a Type 1. It measures 7 x 9". Bogart has inscribed and signed a 5 x 5.5" album page as "Sincerely Humphrey Bogart," and his writing is in blue pencil. His signature and inscription are big, bold and clearly written. The very large Bogart signature is a PSA Grade 8, and it comes with a full letter. The display is in excellent condition, and it provides an exceptional remembrance for an immortal movie star.
