Jack Dempsey WWII Coast Guard Cap

Jack Dempsey WWII Coast Guard Cap

In June of 1942 Jack Dempsey reported to the Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, New York where he was assigned as "Director of Physical Education." Dempsey was eventually promoted to Lieutenant Commander in December 1942 and then Commander in March of 1944. In 1945 Dempsey was aboard USS Arthur Middleton and most notably during the invasion of Okinawa. While on the USS General William Mitchell, Dempsey spent his time sparring with the crew and showing them boxing techniques. After being released from active duty in 1945 he eventually received an Honorable Discharge in 1952. This Coast Guard Cap is completely original and in outstanding condition with zero rips, holes or repairs. Most impressive is the Jackson Naval Outfitters label on the inside that reads, "Custom Made For Jack Dempsey, U.S.C.G." Wonderful piece of boxing and WWII memorabilia.
