Jack Johnson, the first African-American to win the World Heavyweight Title accomplished that feat defeating Tommy Burns in Australia on December 26, 1908. Later defeated Stanley Ketchel and former champion James Jeffries. Offered here is an original business card of Jack Johnson dating to his time in England when he was evading prosecution in the U.S. on Mann Act violations. Jack Johnson has boldly signed and inscribed the back of this business card. Signed as champion in 1914. This business card has a London address and refers to Johnson as, JACK JOHNSON THE CHAMPION BOXER OF THE WORLD. Boldly signed in fountain pen on the reverse, "Yours Truly Champion Jack Johnson Sept 26-1914." Not creased or torn. Rare signature as champion in exile.
