This is an original, first-generation photograph of Jack Johnson, the first African American to win the heavyweight title, standing with his associates in Tijuana, Mexico. Johnson has boldly signed the lower area, "To My Pal From Jack Johnson with good luck & best wishes to Max." Creased on left side running top to bottom. Has some edge and corner wear as well as some writing on the verso, though the image is clear and bold and the signature rates a 7/10. 2 5/8" x 4 1/4." Any Johnson signature on a photograph of him is rare. Comes with a LOA from JSA Authentication.
